When mentoring contributes to the mental health of young people and seniors
- In France, Nearly 1 in 5 young people declares to suffer from anxiety or depressive disorders (Public Health France, 2024).
- On the other side of the spectrum, 40% of seniors say they feel a sense of uselessness or isolation (Fondation de France, 2023).
Faced with these observations, our results show that our program contributes directly to the mental health of our audiences:
- 85% of young people accompanied declare that they have gained confidence in themselves;
- 93% of mentors feel useful, actors in society;
- 65% of mentors even claim to be happier thanks to this experience

Mentoring allows youths, to regain self-confidence, motivation and the ability to project themselves. The mentor is a listening figure who believes in them, helps them overcome their difficulties and build a coherent and lasting professional project.
During the evaluation meetings at the end of support, we also note that young people regain self-esteem, energy and a more stable morale; these are all essential conditions for moving through the stages of professional integration!
At the same time, mentoring allows mentors, to feel that their professional experience - and their life experience - matter, that they transmit and make a real difference in the life of a young person. It is also an opportunity for them to join an active community of volunteers, who meet regularly and share their experiences.
Getting a job is much more than earning an income!
DUO for a JOB is a program focused on the professional integration of young people. `More than 70% of young people accompanied byFind a job, training, internship or work-study program. And that's more than just revenue: It gives them structure, rhythm, security, a sense of usefulness and social recognition and also allows create a link.
Mentoring allows Breaking isolation many of the young people we support, especially refugees. Their arrival in France is accompanied by numerous challenges: language barrier, administrative procedures, lack of network, distance from family and friends... The duo with a mentor then becomes a solid frame of reference and a relationship of trust that allows them to move forward.
More broadly, in a world where isolation is gaining ground and where debates are increasingly polarized, rebuilding bridges between individuals is more than an ideal: it is a necessity. Social cohesion, nourished by exchange, solidarity and respect for differences, plays a fundamental role in our collective well-being.
Taking care of everyone's mental health is not only about supporting those who need it, it's also about creating spaces where each individual can feel at home.
