Volunteering: a commitment that makes sense for all
Chez DUO for a JOB, the volunteers are An essential resource. We are fortunate to be able to count on a community of more than 700 active volunteer mentors across France. And this number is constantly growing thanks to the new seniors who join us to support young people in their professional integration.
Volunteering for mentors is a way to:
- Put their skills and experience at the service of a deeply useful mission ;
- Join a fellowship Warm and Committed, which shares the values of transmission, equal opportunities and openness;
- Live an experience where we offer... but where we receives Just as much.
Being a mentor, rereading CVs, hosting moments between mentors or representing DUO at events... Each of our volunteers can find their place and contribute to the development of our association.
A bulwark against societal fractures
Today, our society is more marked than ever by multiple fractures and inequalities. Generational, cultural, social, territorial divisions... Walls are built faster than bridges are built.
Volunteering is a Real bulwark : by offering time and attention, it contributes to creating relationships, transmitting know-how and opening opportunities to young people who need them most.
Take the example of Mohamed, 25, who arrived from Syria with an engineering degree in his pocket but without the French labor market codes. In duo with him: Martine, 58, senior executive at the end of her career.
For 6 months, at a rate of 2 hours per week, they will:
- Work concretely on Mohamed's resume, his motivation letters, his preparation for interviews. Martine teaches him to “translate” his Syrian engineering degree so that it is understood and valued in France, to adapt his discourse, to identify the right actors.
- Deconstructing their mutual prejudices : Martine discovers the richness of Mohamed's career, his determination, his ability to adapt. Mohamed understands that the French system works with codes that he can learn.
- Create a unique link: Martine offers Mohamed much more than professional support: she gives him a point of reference, a benevolent presence, a listening without judgment.
