💡 DUO for a JOB, in a nutshell...
DUO for a JOB is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 in Brussels, established in France since 2019, and active in the Lille metropolitan area since 2021. DUO runs an intergenerational and intercultural mentoring program by connecting young people from immigrant backgrounds with volunteer mentors aged 50 and over.
Our mission? To promote equal opportunities in the job market for young people from immigrant backgrounds, while also valuing the experience of people over 50 and contributing to a fairer and more inclusive society.
A few key figures about DUO for a JOB:
- More than 10,000 mentoring pairs created
- 18 offices across 3 countries, including 4 in France (Lille, Paris, Marseille & Lyon)
- More than 100 employees at DUO
🎯 Your missions
As a Program Officer, you ensure the smooth running of the mentoring program. This includes informing and meeting program participants (mentors and mentees), helping train mentors, and creating, supporting, and evaluating mentoring pairs.
This is a field-based role involving regular interaction with participants and the team (a Regional Director, a Deputy Director, 3 other Program Officers, and an administrative team), as well as coordination work, since you will frequently liaise with non-profit and institutional partners and oversee operational follow-up.
Your main responsibilities include:
🤝 Creating and supervising mentoring pairs
- Organizing and facilitating group information sessions to recruit participants (mentors and mentees), in both French and English.
- Conducting one-on-one interviews with mentors and mentees.
- Working with the rest of the team to match mentors and mentees based on clearly defined criteria.
- Supporting and monitoring mentoring pairs over a 6-month period, from the first meeting to the evaluation interview, by answering questions, helping resolve issues, providing advice and support, and sharing relevant information and guidance.
- Ensuring administrative follow-up of mentoring pairs through our CRM system.
🎓 Training & events
- Supporting the facilitation of mentor training sessions.
- Helping organize and lead peer exchange sessions for mentors, as well as other activities bringing together program participants.
- Organizing and facilitating workshops for mentees and/or mentors.
📷 Communication & partnerships
- Contributing to the visibility of the program (social media, press, etc.) in collaboration with the communications team.
- Representing DUO at various events (job fairs, exhibitions, external information sessions, steering committees, etc.).
- Building and developing partnerships with local social-sector organizations to refer mentees according to their needs.
- Regularly updating DUO Connect (which notably lists the organization’s partners for mentors and mentees).
This list is not exhaustive; your responsibilities may evolve depending on your interests and the needs of DUO’s non-profit project.
😀 Your profile
- Strong motivation to contribute to an intergenerational mentoring project in the Lille metropolitan area.
- Knowledge of the local non-profit and institutional ecosystem, as well as employment support schemes in the Hauts-de-France region.
- Flexibility, dynamism, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
- Fluent in French and very good command of English; knowledge of any additional language is considered an asset (Arabic, Lingala, Swahili, Fulani, Turkish, etc.).
- Proficiency with digital and office tools (Google Workspace, Notion, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Higher education degree required (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, BAC+3).
- You embody DUO’s motto: “warm professionalism.”
We strongly believe that the strength of our team lies in the diversity of our employees’ backgrounds and profiles, so we encourage everyone to apply!
