💡 DUO for a JOB, in a nutshell...
DUO for a JOB is an association created in 2013 in Brussels, established in France since 2019, and recently established in the Lyon region. DUO offers an intergenerational and intercultural mentoring program by connecting young people from immigrant backgrounds with volunteer mentors over the age of 50.
Our mission? To promote equal opportunities in the job market for young people from immigrant backgrounds, but also to value the experience of those over 50 and thus contribute to a fairer and more inclusive society.
Once as a duo, the young people and mentors meet for two hours a week for six months.
A few figures about DUO for a JOB:
- More than 10,000 duos created
- 7 out of 10 young people find a job, internship, or training program
- 8 out of 10 mentors re-enlist after their first mentoring experience
- 18 branches in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France (in Lille, Paris, Marseille, and Lyon)
- More than 100 employees at DUO, including 31 in France
🎯 Your missions
As Mentoring Program Officer, you ensure the smooth running of the mentoring program. This involves informing and meeting with program participants (mentors and mentees), helping to train mentors, and finally creating, supporting, and evaluating the duos.
This is field work, interacting with participants and the team (a branch director and another program manager), and coordination work, as you will be in frequent contact with associative and institutional partners and will be responsible for monitoring operations.
Your main responsibilities are as follows:
🚀Supporting the establishment and development of the branch
- Participate in the implementation of the DUO for a JOB strategy for Lyon and its surrounding area;
- Support the growth of the project: mobilizing mentors and mentees, managing duos, organizing training and intervision sessions, etc.;
- Manage certain logistical aspects;
- Participate in establishing contact with various stakeholders in Lyon: associations, companies, clubs, public figures, public authorities, etc., and develop partnerships.
📣 Mobilization
- Find the best channels for target audiences to inform them about the program;
- Lead group information sessions with the aim of recruiting participants (mentors and mentees).
🎓**Training courses **
- Actively participate in the logistical and administrative organization of training courses
- Lead training modules for mentors.
🤝 Creating duos
- Conduct individual interviews with mentors and mentees
- Work with the rest of the team to match duos, then inform the mentors/mentees concerned of the reasons for this matching.
👨🦳👨 Supervision and monitoring of duos
- Organize the first meeting between the mentor and the young person;
- Supervise the duos under your coordination to ensure that mentoring activities run smoothly (answering questions, problem solving, advice, support, etc.);
- Help organize intervision (exchange) sessions for mentors, as well as other activities bringing together program participants;
- Regularly provide your duos with any information useful for mentoring, and refer them to other stakeholders if necessary.
- Conduct exit interviews with program participants at the end of the mentoring period.
📷 Communication & representation
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the communication strategy;
- Contribute to the visibility of activities carried out (social media, etc.);
- Contribute to the development of new partnerships: associations, companies, clubs and private circles, public figures, public authorities, etc.;
- Participate in various events, in the media, etc.
We are a small team, and given the rapid growth of the association, you will be required to be very flexible in terms of the roles and responsibilities you take on!
😀 Your profile
- Genuine motivation to invest in a social project involving intercultural and intergenerational mentoring in the Lyon region.
- Good knowledge of the Lyon region (associations, foundations, local authorities, etc.).
- Flexibility, dynamism, rigor, and organizational skills
- At least 4 years of professional experience
- Fluency in French and English; knowledge of any other language is an asset (Arabic, Lingala, Swahili, Fulani, Turkish, etc.)
- Proficiency in office and digital tools (Google Suite, Notion, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Higher education (minimum bac +3)
- You embody DUO's motto: warm professionalism
🤠Beyond skills and experience, it's personality that counts at DUO for a JOB!
This position involves interacting with a wide variety of people, so we are looking for enthusiastic and organized individuals who are able to put program participants at ease.
